Orbea Bicycles: Souls Run Deep
Orbea may be well known for their road bikes, but we're more impressed with their new line of mountain bikes and their new philosophy about the brand. To make great mountain bikes it takes more than just ample knowledge of various frame material and frame geometry. More importantly, staying attune to rider feedback is what makes great bikes even greater because they are bikes people actually want to ride. With 80 years of bicycle building under the belt and "user centered" approach, Orbea wow'd us with their Alma 29er and Rallon full-suspension bikes. We think you'll love what Orbea has to offer as well.

Carbon GSB
We have used our knowledge, experience and know-how to design three fiber categories, and we have called them Gold, Silver and Bronze. Each one represents a different level of carbon and therefore has certain technical characteristics. The names we have chosen for our carbon levels are OMG, OMS and OMB: Orbea Monocoque Gold, Silver and Bronze.
One of the main differences between Orbea fiber types is the modulus level. The greater the Young's Modulus, the better the performance, as can be seen in the three Orbea classifications: Gold (ultra-high modulus), Silver (high modulus) and Bronze (intermediate modulus).
Monocoque Technology
Orbea knows that monocoque technology is the only technology that can guarantee a structure with an optimum performance and reliability that will last, and which has become our standard. Monocoque technology also gives us great freedom in the design of creative shapes for new frames, durability and fatigue resistance. This is why we can offer a lifetime guarantee on our frames: monocoque assures a stable structure with properties that are guaranteed not to change over time.
Lifetime Warranty
Orbea provides a lifetime warranty on all its frames. Only a brand that knows the materials, masters the technologies and has the skills can guarantee that your frame is totally invincible. Only Orbea takes you a step beyond.

Orbea Alma 29 H50 Hardtail MTB
The Alma 29 Hydro benefits from much of the same technology as our carbon fiber Alma hardtails. The key difference is that we build the Hydro with our Orbea hydroformed, triple butted alloy tubeset. You'll get big-wheeled performance similar to our Alma 29 Silver, but here you get all the fun for less cost. Another difference is measured on the scale. The Alma 29 Hydro gains a few grams over the Silver version, but if going fast for less is your number one priority, then you've found your bike. Perfectly priced at $1,399. More info.

Orbea Occam 29 S30
The Occam 29 Silver is perfect for long distance XC racing and riding as it offers ample travel in an efficient, lightweight package. We've re-designed the Occam platform for 29"" wheels, and it's a fast-roller that is perfectly suited to relentlessly rocky trails. Although it shares the same geometry as the Hydro version, we build this one with our Orbea Silver carbon fiber to create a package that is all about performance. The Occam 29 is agile and efficient on the climbs, yet it makes sparks fly on the descents. More info.

The DCR system uses a Gore Ride On cable set, providing a sealed system for each wire. Without contamination and the higher drag inherent in traditional housing, DCR reduces friction in the system by up to 25%.
SSN is more than a technology. It’s the way we build our bikes. We recognize that not all users are the same. Therefore, each of our bike models is custom tuned by size. Each frame size is designed individually, aligning the structure according to the desired stiffness as required by the intended cyclist’s size and body mass. By creating unique structures throughout the size range, we achieve a supreme ride quality and a balanced feel. Each size gets optimized tube diameters, in addition to a specific carbon fiber lay-up.
Orbea Design is based on four essential elements: the human factor, state-of-the-art technology, the creation process, and trends. Our logo for Orbea Design explains it perfectly; each of these four concepts is a key feature of the way we work, and each element is tied to the others. A big part of our design process involves feedback from users, test riders, and sponsored racers.
Our constant efforts to ensure that Orbea bicycles are of the highest quality enable us to offer you the best guarantee possible - the Orbea Lifetime Warranty. If your frame has a manufacturing defect, we will respond quickly to solve your problem. Your warranty is activated at www.orbea.com using the unique, non-transferable registration number you'll find on the down tube of your frame.
We've used our experience and know-how to design three carbon categories. We call them Orbea Carbon Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Each is made of a distinct blend of fibers with differing density, elasticity, and strength. Stiffer, high modulus fibers are great for lightweight frames intended for elite competition. And while we're all about performance, we know that comfort is a concern for many riders. That's why part of our grading process looks at vibration absorption qualities as well as strength and durability.
The Occam bikes use the Diamond Link rear suspension. This linkage design creates a two-stage leverage rate curve to provide efficiency and control throughout the travel range. The first stage is characterized by a rising leverage ratio. This allows the Occam to offer good sensitivity for small bumps. By keeping your rear wheel on the ground, you'll have traction and control at all times, up hills or down. At about 50% travel, the leverage ratio decreases towards the bottom of the stroke.
The C 9-12 pivot system is based around a suspension design that features a rear pivot that is concentric with the rear axle. It allows true separation of braking forces from the swingarm; the seat stays act as a brake floater, much like systems used in moto and auto racing to optimize traction under heavy braking. With the rear wheel following the ground more effectively, youll have more control and more confidence in edge-of-control situations.
