To keep Boo bike frames light and rigid for racing and durability, the bamboo tubes are first joined, then wrapped in carbon fiber and epoxy bonded.

Bamboo - Strong, Supple and Renewable
Boo frames are made from dendrocalamus strictus bamboo (iron bamboo), the strongest of all bamboo grown in Vietnam, that are hand-picked and aged (a two-month drying process)
then cut to exact dimensions for each specific frame. Depending on the frame type, each bamboo piece is carefully selected based on thickness requirement and undergoes a
stringent stress test before it moves on to the production line.

Boo Mountain Bike
The Boo MTB, available in 26" and 29" versions, is a very robust and stiff machine capable of seasons of abuse. The construction is similar to all other Boo models, with specially treated and hand selected dendrocalamus strictus bamboo tubing and high-modulus carbon wrapped tube-to-tube. All aspects of the frame have been beefed up to weather the elements, including thicker tube walls all around and additional carbon layers at the joints. The Boo MTB's true advantage is in bamboo's special ride properties. The bamboo is able to flex very slightly over trail chatter, gravel, and washboard--smoothing the ride and letting you hammer in the saddle all day with less fatigue and more speed. Bamboo is truly the best material in existence for a race-ready trail rig, and the Boo MTB marries it to carbon fiber for light weight and ultimate stiffness. The Boo Bicycles T is a boutique touring bicycle. Its bamboo rack, integrated into the frame, holds 100 kilograms comfortably. It is specially designed for longer touring rides when comfort and stability are paramount. For shorter touring around the city, it is simply perfect—a beautiful bicycle for cruising in comfort and style. The Boo T has specific features meant to improve comfort and touring, including an internal gearing system to reduce noise and improve reliability without require maintenance or adjustment as well as a belt drive instead of a dirty and unsightly chain. The wheelbase is longer for stability and the geometry is more upright for comfort. The Boo T also has clearance for wider tires for comfort as well as V-brakes for slowing down efficiently with larger loads.
